Reactivity

The Details

Private 50-minute sessions, in-person

Is your dog friendly with people and dogs but suddenly becomes reactive - lunging, pulling, or barking - when on leash? We can help with that!

During sessions we will actively work on real-life scenarios together to stop leash reactivity. Even if you aren’t interested in the full obedience program reactivity training starts with establishing some obedience basics that will be crucial to help you work through leash reactivity. At minimum you will first learn a solid sit & release command, a focus command, leash respect, and heeling before. If additional obedience training is desired after we have the reactivity managed you can always continue sessions with a combined obedience/reactivity focus.

Sessions are typically in St. Catharines outdoors but exceptions can be made and training/socialization outings can also take place elsewhere. Training outside and in public settings is often most beneficial so that your dog is learning in real-life scenarios with distractions around us. However, we also have an indoor location in the Thorold/Fonthill area for use for consultations and applicable training sessions.

Contact us to further discuss location options and session timing. Morning, afternoon, and evening sessions available. We train all seasons. Please let us know if you have concerns about the cold or weather though and we can discuss.

Training sessions should ideally be done weekly. Package sessions can be booked in advance or week to week. Days/times can be as consistent as possible or vary weekly based on your schedule.

When additional support is wanted, shorter training sessions can be scheduled between our weekly sessions. In some cases, a consult could be advised - for example, if an equipment change is needed or if your dog needs to be assessed.

Before your 1st session you will receive information on what to bring.

We review prior training each week.
